Mid-Century Modern Art Deco Cork Top & Mahogany Dining Set by Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture – 7 Pieces with 2 Leaves
An exceptional American Mid-Century Modern dining ensemble designed by renowned designer Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture Company, showcasing his distinctive architectural approach to furniture design through a striking combination of natural cork, richly finished mahogany, and bold geometric detailing.
The magnificent dining table features a beautifully textured rectangular cork top with softly rounded ends, supported by two sculptural curved mahogany pedestal bases. Each base incorporates dramatic overlapping zigzag supports, creating an open architectural silhouette that is both visually captivating and sophisticated.
The table includes two removable 12-inch extension leaves, allowing for versatile dining arrangements while maintaining its elegant proportions.
The six coordinating dining chairs beautifully complement the table's architectural design. Four mahogany side chairs feature striking open zigzag backs that mirror the geometric detailing of the table's pedestal bases. Two sculptural armchairs showcase distinctive split V-shaped upholstered backs, gracefully curved wooden arms, and elegantly tapered legs.
All six chairs are upholstered in a complementary olive and gold geometric patterned fabric, adding warmth and texture to the rich mahogany frames.
A remarkable example of American modernist furniture design, this complete dining ensemble effortlessly blends Art Deco glamour with Mid-Century Modern sophistication. Perfect for a distinguished dining room, architectural residence, or sophisticated contemporary interior.
The table retains its original Johnson Furniture Company manufacturer's stamp.
