Vintage Italian Antonio Sibau California Architectural High Back Slat Dining Chairs in Cherry Finished Beechwood – Set of 4
An exceptional set of four vintage Italian “California” dining chairs by Antonio Sibau, featuring dramatic 48-inch architectural high backs, beautifully crafted beechwood frames with a warm cherry finish, and contrasting black leather upholstered seats.
Produced in Manzano, Italy, these distinctive chairs showcase a striking modernist design influenced by the architectural furniture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Their extraordinary proportions, clean geometric lines, and intricate open slat construction create an elegant balance of sculptural form and functionality.
Each chair features an exceptionally tall back composed of closely spaced vertical wooden slats, creating a dramatic linear silhouette while maintaining an airy, architectural presence. The slatted backs extend below the seats, forming a distinctive open framework that is particularly impressive when viewed from behind.
The beautifully finished beechwood frames feature slender, tapered front legs and angled rear supports, emphasizing the chairs' sophisticated geometric design. The black leather upholstered seats provide a refined contrast against the warm cherry-toned wood.
Equally striking from every angle, these chairs make an impressive statement around a dining table, particularly in an open-concept interior where their dramatic architectural backs can be fully appreciated. Their distinctive proportions also make them ideal for a contemporary residence, executive dining room, or collector's interior.
Each chair retains its original A. Sibau “Made in Italy” manufacturer's label, confirming its Italian manufacture.
A remarkable combination of Italian craftsmanship, architectural modernism, and timeless design.
