Antique French Montagnon Nevers Majolica Jardinière on Pedestal

Exceptional 19th century French majolica jardinière on pedestal, produced by Antoine Montagnon for the Nevers faience workshops. Both the jardinière and the matching pedestal base are signed with the Montagnon Nevers ribbon mark, confirming original paired production.

The urn-form vessel is richly decorated with hand-painted figural scenes framed within ornate cartouches, surrounded by scrolling foliate motifs on a deep cobalt ground. Sculptural side handles and the coordinating pedestal base create an impressive architectural presentation with strong Old World presence.

Executed in traditional French faience, this piece exemplifies the craftsmanship and vibrant glazing associated with Nevers ceramics of the late 19th century. Hand-painted factory marks and decorator numbers are present to the underside, further supporting its period authenticity.

The jardinière presents in antique condition with a professionally stabilized repaired crack, consistent with age and use, which does not affect structural integrity or display.
