This chair is one of those pieces that becomes more interesting the longer you look at it. The horseshoe-shaped back sweeps around in one continuous curve, ending in beautifully turned-out hand rests, while the folding frame gives the entire chair an unexpected sense of movement. Along the front, carved dragons emerge from the wood beneath the seat, and aged metal mounts wrap the joints like pieces of jewelry. Tall, sculptural, and remarkably detailed, it has the commanding presence of a throne while still showing the ingenuity of a chair designed to fold.
