An impressive pair of antique French carved wood armchairs featuring elegant proportions, sculptural detailing and beautifully executed figural carving. Each chair is distinguished by gracefully curved arms terminating in carved animal-head figures, with fluted and foliate-carved supports continuing into slender carved legs.

The tall upholstered backs and generously proportioned seats have been newly reupholstered in a luxurious high-end “Rose Pewter” silk velvet, a sophisticated neutral with a subtle silvery-rose cast and beautiful sheen that changes with the light. The upholstery is finished with oversized antiqued brass nailhead trim, creating a striking contrast against the softly colored velvet.

The exposed carved frames retain a softly aged, washed finish that highlights the depth of the carving and gives the chairs an elegant timeworn character. Shaped stretchers connect the legs below, adding both architectural interest and stability.
