A wonderfully unusual pair of antique low-profile primitive wood armchairs featuring rustic, hand-worked construction and beautifully aged surfaces. Each chair is constructed with a broad plank seat framed by substantial rounded rails, cylindrical legs and slender vertical back supports.
The chairs are distinguished by their sculptural, organically shaped crest rails, which retain the irregular character of the wood and give each chair an individual appearance. Their exceptionally low-slung proportions and simple structural design create a striking primitive aesthetic that works beautifully within rustic, Wabi-Sabi, organic modern, folk art, or eclectic interiors.
The wood displays considerable surface texture, wear and variation consistent with age and use, contributing to the chairs’ strong architectural and timeworn character.
