Antique Monumental Chinese Quan-Yin Sitting Mandorla Carved Polychromed Wood Sculpted Statues - Set of 2

This set of two antique monumental Chinese Quan-Yin sitting mandorla carved polychromed wood sculpted statues is a stunning addition to any collection. Crafted with intricate detail, these statues depict the goddess Quan-Yin in a seated position, surrounded by a mandorla, a sacred halo-like structure. Each statue measures a substantial size, making them truly impressive and commanding attention in any space. With their rich history and exquisite craftsmanship, these statues are not only beautiful decorative pieces but also valuable cultural artifacts. Whether displayed together or separately, these antique Chinese Quan-Yin statues are sure to be a focal point and conversation starter in any home or gallery.

These statues were acquired at a Midwest auction and are said to have originated from New York's Chinatown in the late 1940s. They were flanking the entrance of an Old Yoga Temple/Studio. The Temple was said to be visited regularly by Yoga Master Indra Devi. The Antique Collectable Statues could have made their way to Yehudi Menuhin's extensive Buddha and Bodhisattva collection dedicated to his love and devotion to Yoga, which was sold off several years ago in a private estate auction of his son Gerad in Oregon.
