Strong and substantial, this antique Shanxi elm cabinet has a smooth, deeply dark finish that gives its large silhouette a grounded, almost masculine presence. Along the bottom, intricate hand-carved woodwork introduces an unexpected feminine softness, while the circular brass hardware breaks through the dark surface with a warm, subtle contrast. The balance between its sturdy construction and delicate detailing is what makes this piece especially striking.
