French Neoclassical Revival Gilt Bronze Figural Ewer Urns with Cherubs – Pair

Antique French Neoclassical Revival Gilt Bronze Figural Ewer Urns with Cherubs – Pair

An exceptional and highly decorative pair of antique French Neoclassical Revival figural ewers, richly modeled throughout with elaborate classical ornamentation and sculptural details.

Each ewer features a generously proportioned urn-form body decorated in relief with classical figural scenes, surrounded by trailing grapevines, leaves, fruit and ornamental borders. The vessels rise from finely decorated circular pedestal bases and terminate above in dramatically flared, scrolling spouts.

The elaborate handles are particularly striking, formed with scrolling foliate and vine motifs and surmounted by charming winged putti or cherub figures seated above the vessels. Additional bird figures and abundant botanical decoration reinforce the romantic, classically inspired composition.

Finished in a warm aged gold tone with variations to the surface and patina that beautifully emphasize the dimensional casting and intricate details.

A dramatic matched pair with wonderful presence, ideal displayed on a mantel, console, commode, library cabinet or flanking a large mirror or work of art.

Sold as a pair.
