A beautiful example of Northern Chinese craftsmanship, this antique coffee table originates from Shanxi Province, a region celebrated for its refined carpentry traditions and atmospheric architectural history. Crafted from solid elmwood (yumu), the table showcases a warm, organic character that only time can create.
The surface and edges display a soft, naturally weathered patina, with subtle variations in tone, grain, and texture developed through age and use. The wood’s gentle wear, rounded edges, and visible joinery speak to generations of touch and everyday life—offering an authentic Wabi-Sabi presence: elegant, grounded, and soulfully lived-in.
