Exceptional Mid-Century Modern credenza designed by Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture Company, featuring a sophisticated combination of richly finished mahogany, a genuine cork top, and distinctive solid brass X-shaped hardware.
This elegant American modernist sideboard showcases Frankl's celebrated approach to design, combining architectural simplicity, refined proportions, and luxurious materials. The beautifully shaped cork top features softly angled corners and a substantial profile, creating a striking contrast against the warm mahogany cabinet.
The symmetrical facade features seven drawers and two cabinet doors, offering exceptional storage and functionality. Three upper drawers include specialized compartments, with green felt-lined dividers in the two outer drawers, ideal for organizing silverware and serving accessories. Four additional central drawers provide generous storage for linens and dining essentials, while the flanking cabinet doors reveal spacious shelved compartments.
The distinctive crossed brass pulls, often associated with Frankl's designs for Johnson Furniture, add a refined decorative element to the otherwise clean-lined silhouette.
Retaining its original Johnson Furniture Company manufacturer's stamp, this beautifully proportioned cabinet is a wonderful example of collectible American Mid-Century Modern furniture.
An outstanding statement piece for a sophisticated dining room, living space, or curated interior featuring important 20th-century design.
