A fantastic 1991 Thayer Coggin Pull Up Chair, retaining its original factory tag and newly reupholstered in a luxurious charcoal gray alpaca-mohair blend.

What immediately makes this chair stand out is its silhouette. The generously rounded back flows directly into the thick, sculptural arms, which sweep forward and curl down around the seat. The substantial upholstered body appears almost suspended above the floor on slender, dramatically curved polished chrome legs, creating a great contrast between the soft, organic upholstery and the sleek metal base.

The new charcoal alpaca-mohair blend is especially good on this design. Its dense, softly textured pile follows the curves of the chair beautifully and changes subtly with the light, giving the upholstery considerably more depth than a flat woven fabric.

Despite being described by Thayer Coggin as a “Pull Up Chair,” this is generously proportioned at 40 inches wide and reads much more like a sculptural lounge or accent chair in a room. It has a distinctly late-20th-century modern look that works beautifully with Postmodern, contemporary, and collectible designer interiors.

The original underside factory label identifies Thayer Coggin, Inc., High Point, North Carolina, Style 286-153, described as a “Pull Up Chair,” with chrome finish and a factory order date of October 20, 1991.
