Vintage Samuelson Red Lacquered Oval Side Tables with Glass Tops & Brass Finish Stands – Pair
A striking pair of vintage side tables by Samuelson Furniture, acquired from The James Hotel in Chicago.
What immediately stands out is the beautiful combination of materials and the unusual oval shape. Each table has a deep red lacquered cabinet topped with glass, sitting almost suspended within a slender brass-finish metal frame. Below is an oval tinted glass shelf, giving you another usable surface without making the tables feel heavy.
The brass-finish frame continues all the way down into the large oval base, repeating the shape of the cabinet above and giving the tables their sculptural, architectural look. From the side, the curved lacquered bodies and open metal framework are especially striking.
They’re a great size and incredibly versatile — substantial enough to use as a pair of nightstands, but equally beautiful flanking a sofa as side tables. The red lacquer against the warm brass finish gives them just the right amount of color while still feeling sophisticated.
