Vintage English Regency Style Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard with Corinthian Columns

This is a substantial sideboard, and the first thing you notice standing in front of it is the architecture. At over 81 inches wide, it has a strong presence, but the curved ends and beautifully proportioned details keep it from feeling heavy.

The warm mahogany is decorated throughout with fine contrasting banding and delicate floral inlay. Across the front, a long upper drawer is framed with inlaid borders and decorative motifs, while the two large cabinet doors below feature especially beautiful symmetrical inlaid designs.

What really sets the piece apart are the columns. Tall carved columns flank the central cabinet, each finished with elaborate Corinthian-style capitals and carved foliate details at the base. The curved side sections follow the shape of the top and give the entire case a much more interesting profile when viewed from an angle.

Open the two central doors and you have generous interior storage with stationary shelving, making this a very functional piece despite its formal appearance. Decorative brass hardware and small rounded feet complete the design.

It would be beautiful used traditionally in a dining room, but at this scale it could just as easily anchor a large entry, living room or library.
