A dramatic pair of vintage figural brass fighting rooster sculptures, each captured in an animated, confrontational pose with wings dramatically spread and highly detailed plumage.
The roosters feature beautifully modeled bodies with individually articulated feathers, textured wings, combs, beaks, legs and talons. Their spectacular fan-shaped tail feathers rise high above the bodies, giving the pair a strong sculptural silhouette from virtually every angle. The opposing poses allow the roosters to be displayed facing one another as a dynamic centerpiece or separated throughout an interior.
Finished in warm aged brass with areas of natural oxidation and patina that accentuate the feather work and dimensional detailing. The variations in the surface give the sculptures wonderful vintage character.
Their form and weight make them suitable as decorative bookends, although they are equally compelling displayed simply as sculptural objects on a console, bookshelf, desk, mantel or cocktail table.
A wonderfully expressive pair with a bold Hollywood Regency / Mid-Century decorative character, perfect for an eclectic or maximalist interior.
Sold as a pair.
